Frog Went A-Courting - SSA
Frog Went A-Courting - SSA
“Frog Went A-Courting” is a playful story song about a Frog who rides off to marry Miss Mouse. It is one of the oldest folk songs still sung today. It began in Scotland and England more than 450 years ago. British settlers brought the song to America, where it gained dozens of new verses across Appalachia and the South. Families sang it as a lullaby and a game song and it became widely known in American culture.
As the story goes, the Frog asks Uncle Rat for permission to marry Miss Mouse, the animals gather for a wedding supper, a friendly cat crashes the party and causes chaos, during which they all get eaten by a snake.
Under its cheerful “uh-huh” refrain is one of folk music’s oldest jokes: a grand wedding told entirely by small creatures.

A space hurricane is similar to a storm we experience, but happens high up in the sky, far beyond Earth. Imagine a huge swirling funnel in the sky, like a tornado, but even bigger! This space hurricane happens when the weather is very calm and quiet. It is a special kind of storm that you cannot see with your eyes, but scientists can study it using special instruments.
The music I created for this piece is like a whirlwind of sound. I used different words from different languages, like Greek, Japanese, Spanish, French and English to describe the hurricane. I also made the vocal sounds colorful and diverse, just like all the beautiful colors you see in the clouds.
When you listen to this music, I hope you feel a lot of energy and excitement. It might sound a bit chaotic, but it is a joyful chaos. Just like how a storm can be powerful and wild, but also fascinating to watch.
Remember, it is important for us to take care of our planet. By using art and music, we can appreciate and understand the amazing things that happen in our environment, like space hurricanes. So let's enjoy this musical journey and keep exploring the wonders of our world and beyond!
